My eldest son recently wrote, in a workbook: “I don’t like writing answers to questions where the data changes (with time).”, and that applies nicely to the message that I want to convey next:
I started this blog four years ago and a lot changes in four years. I went from wanting to reduce the stigma of ‘autism’ (being autistic) while unknowingly contributing to it with disability euphemisms, oversharing of my children’s experiences and no understanding of intersectionality or disability justice.
I expect (and hope) that in the future, I will continue to learn and change my thinking but I will keep old posts (sometimes edited because the messages are too harmful to leave there) to serve as a reminder of how my/our understanding continues to evolve with time, experience and a dedication to listening to the most marginalised.
FYI: I do not endorse any advertisements that appear on my blog site as a result of not paying the annual fee to get rid of them.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a nice day 🙂

Hi Rachel, my sister has a blog about life with her son who has autism. You may find it interesting: http://kaikrishna.blogspot.com
All the best to you and your children.

Thankyou, your sister writes beautifully. Is there a way to follow her blog by email? If not I will certainly revisit her site when I have a little more time to explore (soon).
I’m not sure how to follow it — they don’t make it easy at Blogspot. You could probably post a comment and let her know you’d like to be notified. I think she has an autism page on Facebook, maybe that’s the way to go.
Thx, I’ve posted a comment 🙂
Rachel, your blog is currently included on our Actually Autistic Blogs List (anautismobserver.wordpress.com). Please click on the “How do you want your blog listed?” link at the top of that site to personalize your blog’s description.
Thank you.
